I did make a mistake buying the 70" Sony Bravia KDL-70W850B TV because contrary to my experience with Sharp and Samsung, the Sony TV will not communicate with my Sony STR-K840P surround sound system. Although the Sony receiver is 13 years old, which means no HDMI connections, it has performed flawlessly through 2 other brands of TV. The wiring diagrams in the Bravia TV and on Sony's E-Support website do not work with my Sony receiver. After 2 hours today, a technician I hired told me that the only solution to getting surround sound with the Bravia is to buy a more up-to-date receiver.
